Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble. A girly Halloween soiree

Halloween isn't all about the kids anymore, call up the ladies and enjoy a night of pretty pastel treats, pink rosè and lots of fun! Me and the talented Cake Mama wanted to create a modern, light take on the traditional dark decor and make it super easy for you to re-create yourself with a few easy DIY ideas!

Our theme idea was "Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble" which is actually a common misinterpreted line from the famous Shakespeare play "Macbeth"

The three witches that predict Macbeth's future are standing around their cauldron throwing creepy items into the pot to make their spooky brew. All the while, they chant, "Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble" over the simmering concoction. Oooh, eerie! In actuality in the play they actually chant, "Double Double toil and trouble" but over the years, like a long game of telephone it got re interpreted into "Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble" and was used in many songs, TV shows and movies.

We ran with the ladder version to create this modern, pretty girly party. We started with the famous line and ran with is as the base of our set up. I painted these letter balloons with matte white & black spray paint and than splattered acrylic paint on top for a Halloween feel. You can create the same effect easily, just follow the steps below!

  1.  Blow up your letter balloons with air which can be purchased from us here with the provided straw.
  2. Choose your colors, I used Rust-oleum matt black and regular white spray paint. I really liked how smooth it went on, do NOT use Krylon spray paint, I tried it and it ate through everything I painted. This has a nice even finish and didn't cause the balloon to deflate, they're actually still going after a few weeks!
  3. If you want to splatter paint a few or all, once the spray paint is dry, squirt some dollar store acrylic paint onto a paper plate and use a small paint brush to scoop some paint up and start splattering away. Make sure your in a place that you don't mind getting messy! It is a lot of fun to play around with color combos so don't be scared to test a few out.
  4. Let dry and attach to backdrop or wall with tape and voila!

I also love this custom balloon we created with our custom vinyl lettering and cute little spider on top, made literally with 2 balloons, pipe cleaners and googly eyes. Simply tie two 5" balloons together one bigger and one smaller for the head. Twist 4 pipe cleaners around the neck to create 4 legs on each side and attach googly eyes!

If you've been following me for any length of time, you know I love a good styled table. It allows my creative juices to flow. Me and Izabella The Cake Mama loved trying out different layouts and had so much fun playing with colors and presentation ideas. Want to create a similar look for your get together?
